RACO SDC Elects New President


A RACO SDC took place in Finnstown House Hotel between the 18/19 April 2016. The primary purpose of the SDC was to elect an Association
President in accordance with the Association Constitution and Rules of Election. The Association is delighted to announce the election
of Commandant Shane Keogh as the Association President. Commandant Keogh is currently serving in Defence Forces Headquarters
and he has been an active Committee Member, Committee Chairman and Vice President over the last number of years.
The Association Members wish to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing President, Commandant Ian Harrington, for his commitment
and engagement over the last four years. Ian has greatly contributed to the Association’s activities while representing the Association’s and
Members best interests continually.
During the SDC the Association Professional Staff briefed the newly elected delegates on the Defence Forces Conciliation and Arbitration
Scheme, current issues relating to National Public Service Industrial Relations and current matters on the Council Agenda of the Defence
Forces C&A Scheme.
Assistant Chief of Staff (Support), Brigadier General Peter O’Halloran attended the SDC on behalf of the General Staff and participated in
discussions on topics related to conditions of service both present and future. The Conference Delegates wish to thank the A CoS for his
engagement with the Formation and Service Delegates.
The Association’s “Towards 2025” Initiative was discussed in addition to research projects that will be conducted by Association Members. The
identified projects were discussed with the delegates and recommendations considered. Formation & Service Committees will brief Members
on these initiatives in due course.
